ABOUT

BUFFALO ROCK

Buffalo Rock Tented Camp is perfectly located in a private and secluded part of the Nkambeni Private Concession, within the borders of the world-renowned Kruger National Park. Offering visitors the opportunity to commune with nature in a pristine and unspoilt wildlife-rich wilderness, Buffalo Rock Tented Camp is completely unfenced and regularly welcomes roaming wildlife, including members of the Big Five. Although the Camp is called Buffalo Rock, Lion and Leopard are regularly spotted sunning themselves on the rocky outcrop close to the camp.

To further enhance your safari experience at Buffalo Rock you will enjoy authentic under-canvas accommodation, reminiscent of the early pioneer days of wildlife safaris in Africa. In order to leave the smallest possible foot-print in this pristine wilderness, Buffalo Rock Tented Camp is purely powered by solar energy, making this camp an ideal choice for eco-warriors.

The camp conducts regular daily game drives within the traversing area of the concession as well as inside the unfenced borders of the Kruger National Park. Come and experience the thrill of luxury camping surrounded by nature at its finest, here at Buffalo Rock Tented Camp.

Buffalo Rock - a great location for a Kruger NP safari We loved our stay at Buffalo Rock. The staff were friendly & supportive. We loved the little touches such as hot/cold towels upon arrival back from game drives. The drives were all great, although some were better than others depending on the guide for that day. However, they all tried their hardest to find the animals we hoped to see. The tent was good, the beds were comfortable. The tents themselves are pretty basic, but up there with standard Glamping. The main issues we had were the shower not working in our tent, running freezing cold even when the management tried to fix it for us, and on occasion the food was a little on the cold side. It was good, tasty food, though not a huge variety of choice. We had no complaints. The game drives were 6 hours every morning and 3 hours every afternoon. So whilst the camp itself was basic to some level, the whole experience overall was great. I was a little disappointed not to see or hear any wildlife in or around the camp, but that's the beauty of wild animals, they choose when they visit. The sightings on the drives were, however, fantastic.

Fantastic 5-star experience! My mom and I stayed at Buffalo Rock for 2 nights in July. What a fantastic experience! We visit Kruger Park at least once a year, and this was one of the best experiences we have had. All of the staff and our guides were incredible. The accommodation is very comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed the semi-outdoor shower. We were given so much delicious food that we thought we might never eat again :) The train that runs nearby can be a bit noisy, but it should definitely not put anyone off from staying here. We were treated like royalty and had every need catered to. We also had amazing sightings and thoroughly enjoyed our sunrise drinks at stunning locations. We will definitely be staying here again!

An Unforgettable, Authentic Safari Experience! We had an amazing time at Buffalo Rock Camping! If you want an authentic safari camping feel, this is definitely the place. Everyone there was just so friendly and incredibly accommodating from start to finish. A huge thanks to our driver, Israel (aka Chef)! He is so knowledgeable and clearly very experienced. He tried so hard for us to see all the different animals and really went above and beyond. Highly recommend this place if you want a great safari experience with awesome people!

5star safari stay We stayed at buffalo rock for 4 nights and couldn’t recommend this accommodation enough. JB the manager met us with a hot towel after every game drive, he went above and beyond to ensure all our needs were met. Siden the bar man was top class and none of us went thirsty. Chef Nickel cooked us great flavoursome food every day. All of the staff couldn’t have done enough and the camp was in a great location in Kruger.

Brilliant staff and amazing guide Sharon We had 5 nights at Buffalo Rock and everything about the stay was amazing. The host Jbu looked after our every need. The Batman Siden stayed up late and kept us refreshed. The food that the chef Nickel prepared was first class. Our guide Sharon was brilliant and mapped out our trips and we saw each of the Big Five plus all the other animals across the park. I could not recommend Buffalo Rock camp more highly

Relaxing and gluten free stay We stayed here for one night as part of our tour of South Africa. There were only 7 of us who opted for this from our larger tour group. We all had an excellent time in this peaceful relaxing location. All the staff were friendly and helpful but special thanks goes to the chef who went out of his way to make sure that my husband's food was gluten free. In fact he cooked virtually all the food provided to the 7 of us for breakfast and dinner so that it was gluten free. What a thoughtful gesture!
